KCC Spring Cycling Trip

Orillia – Midland & Return Trail Ride

June 20th & 21st, 2023

This trip consists of an out and back trail ride from Orillia to Midland on day 1 and Midland to Orillia on day 2. The distance is 60km each day with a stop for lunch each day in Coldwater. All rides are taken at a casual cruising pace with plenty of opportunity to stop and enjoy the scenery. Gravel, hybrid, mountain and fat bikes would be most suitable for this trip.

For the more adventurous riders, day 1 will consist of a 110km route from Orillia to Barrie and then on to Midland  day 2 will be the 60km route from Midland to Orillia.

NOTE:  Start time will be 9:00am on June 20th, at J.B. Tudhope Memorial Park, 450 Atherly Road, Orillia, ON, rain or shine. This will allow the long route riders enough time to finish the route and the shorter route riders to tour Midland.

Start on June 21st is 10:00am.

Event open to KCC Members and their spouses or partners.
All riders must have a valid KCC membership for the 2023 season in order to attend.

Day One, 110km, Day Two, 60km

60km – Return Next Day

Accommodation

Hampton Inn by Hilton, 877 King St, Midland – $159/night + HST, double and single occupancy – includes a hot buffet breakfast. Twelve rooms with 2 queen beds have been reserved.

Hotel rooms must be booked before June 1st, 2023 to receive the special rate. Phone 705-540-9425 to make your reservation. Provide them with code KCC when booking your room.

The hotel will be providing us with a room in which all the bikes can be secured for the night.

Dinner

We will be having a group dinner at Kelsey’s Roadhouse located at 917 King St, Midland, Phone 705-526-2784 – a very short walk from the hotel.

Overnight Parking

We will park at a location conveniently located to the trail in Orillia. Location TBD.

Luggage Transfer

This will be handled by a Cycling Club volunteer. Pack a small overnight bag. Please let us know if you have any suggestions.

Lunch Stops

We will stop at Em’s Cafe in Coldwater for lunch on the 60km route both days. This is a bike friendly cafe located at 16 Coldwater Rd, approximately half way along the route. Lunch for the 110km route on Day 1 will be at Danny’s Edibles, 1179 Bayfield St, Barrie. The Giant Bicycle store is just across the street.
